Product details

A few favorite books on a desk or shelf tend to slump, slide or end up stacked flat. This book holder gives them a place to stand. Books lean back against a square metal plate, and a glossy sphere rests on two slim rails against the front of the row to keep everything in place.

It is one piece, so there is no pair of bookends to line up. The open, bent-metal frame keeps the look light, and the sphere adds a pop of color, which makes it as much a piece of desk decor as a book holder. Move the sphere back when you add a book, forward when you take one away.

Choose a Blue, Red, Orange or Silver sphere, or Shelf Only for the frame and back plate on their own.

How do I care for it?

Wipe the frame and sphere with a soft, dry cloth.
For smudges, use a slightly damp cloth, then dry it right away.
Skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners so the finish stays glossy.
Keep it indoors and away from standing water.

How do I use it?

Step 1
Set the holder on a flat desk, shelf or console.

Step 2
Lean your books against the square back plate.

Step 3
Set the sphere on the two rails and move it up against the books.

Step 4
Adding a book? Slide the sphere back to make room.

Your favorite books, on display Covers out.

Most bookends are an afterthought. This one turns a short stack of favorites into something you want to look at, with a glossy sphere resting right against the spines.

Books lean on the square back plate at an easy angle, so covers and titles stay visible on a desk, a shelf or an entry console.

One sphere holds the row

The sphere sits on two slim rails. Move it up against your books and they stay put at a lean. Add a new book and simply slide it back.

Frequently asked questions

How many books does it hold?

A small collection: a handful of books, notebooks or magazines, depending on how thick they are. The rail is about 19.7 in (50 cm) long and the sphere sits wherever your row ends.

Is the sphere heavy?

No. It is a decorative sphere, not a weight. Books lean back against the plate, so the sphere only keeps them from sliding forward. For a long row of heavy hardcovers, a weighted bookend is the better choice.

What comes with Shelf Only?

The metal frame and the square back plate, without the sphere. Books still lean against the plate. Choose a sphere color if you want the ball.

How big is it?

About 19.7 in (50 cm) long, with a back plate of about 7.1 x 7.1 in (18 x 18 cm).
